Recipe- Perfect Peach Cake

Last Saturday for the Mother/Daughter Stamping I made this cake, I promised I would share--here it is:

Perfect Peach Cake
1 1/2c. brown sugar
2/3c. butter, softened
2 eggs
2c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1c. buttermilk
4 medium sized peaches, peeled, chunk into 1" pieces
1/4c. raw sugar
Grease and flour a 13x9" baking dish. Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees. Beat brown sugar and butter until light and fluffy (this takes about 5 minutes), beat in eggs. Mix dry ingredients-flour, salt, baking soda- in a small bowl. Add to butter/sugar mixture alternating with buttermilk, mixing well after each addition. Remove bowl from mixer and fold peaches in by hand. Pour batter into prepared baking dish, sprinkle with raw sugar. Bake 35-40 minutes, until a toothpick comes clean. Serve warm with whip cream, refrigerate leftovers.

Fab Friday #4-- Somebody's watching me!

Hello- and happy Friday! Our focus this week over at Sisters in Stamping was the new Shimmer Paint in the Holiday Mini Catalog. The original idea came from Cindy Garbe and Jodie Schmidt, I took the idea and tweaked it a bit, here is what I came up with:

ooooooo Spooky! I used the Shimmer Paint 2 ways.... 1st- I used the paint directly on the Happy Halloween stamp using a sponge dauber. 2nd- I used the technique called Polished Stone with reinkers and Shimmer Paint. I have taught this technique a couple of times over the years using pigment metallic reinkers and the ink never dries on glossy cardstock.....well, the most fantastic thing about the Shimmer Paint is that it dried! I still have to walk over to it every once in awhile and touch it to make sure.

Stamp sets: House of Haunts (pg.22- IB&C 2009-10), Holiday Blitz (pg.44- IB&C 2009-10). Accessories: Platinum Shimmer Paint (#116808), Pumpkin Pie 1/4" grosgrain ribbon. Paper: Lovely Lilac, Basic Black, Glossy cardstock. Ink: Stazon black, Lovely Lilac reinker, Basic Black reinker.

Next week we are using Big Shot Pop-up dies, until then.

Sweet Cup Fab Friday!

Hello and welcome!

We did this project a couple of weeks ago at a Club Meeting, it is my submission for this week's Fab Friday post:



Whenever I see this little potted flower I imagine it on someones desk, a little ray of sunshine!
The terracotta pot is 2 1/4 inches, I glued a 2 inch Styrofoam ball into it. The flower is filled with M&M's and mounted on a 6" lollipop stick with a jumbo glue dot.

Accessories: Old Olive Striped ribbon, Sweet Treat Cup, dimensionals, jumbo glue dots, Tombow Adhesive.

Accessories: Ornament Punch, 1 1/4" Old Olive Striped ribbon, Square Fire Rhinestone Brads, Silver Elastic cord, Circle Scissors, Big Shot Bigz XL die Table Setting #116819.

Paper: Merry Moments Designer Series Paper, Chocolate Chip cardstock, Kraft Cardstock, Very Vanilla cardstock, Real Red cardstock, Garden Green cardstock, Old Olive cardstock.

Ink: Classic Real Red, Versamark

When I sent it out last night I mentioned to my Sistahs that there was a special surprise inside....tah dah!! I used the "spring" thingy from the Bigz XL die in the Mini catalog-- SU! used it to make pinecones in the Mini.

When you open it up all of the ornaments spring out...hence the name Spring Card. Original idea came from my downline Suzanne Askey( she did it with the heart theme). It turned out very nice--it's good when you have something pictured in your head and it turns out just like you imagined it!

August Stamp-a-Whole-Lotta Cards

These are the cards from last months Stamp-a-Whole-Lotta-Cards (SWLC). I took trades that I received from Convention in Salt Lake, tweaked them a little-

Card #1: Here is a picture of the first trade card I used, Sherry Harter made it:Here is the card we made....I added the red gingham ribbon and I changed the greeting to Happy Birthday. That's it, thanks Sherry for the great idea!

Card #2: This trade was received from Jennifer Cotton.

I added the Pretty in Pink taffeta ribbon and mounted the white/black panel on Regal Rose card stock.


Card #3: While I was in Salt Lake at Convention I participated in a Shoebox Trade that Dawn Rapsas put together, it was a lovely time! Thank-you Dawn for all of your hard work. This was one of the cards that we made at the Shoebox, I didn't get a name--if it belongs to you please e-mail me and I will credit you for this cute design.

I just changed the base of the card to another InColor. I'm seeing this card, one of each InColor, bundled together in a gift pack...maybe as a nice thank-you gift for my son's teacher. What do you think?

Card #4: I love the simple way this card is laid out. This trade did not have a name on it.

I made a few changes to this trade for the class. The panel that the frog sits on is a wee bit bigger, I used Basic Brown ink pad to stamp the image instead of Basic Black ink pad.

Card #5: This last card is a combination of 2 trades I received using the same stamp set.

Like the layout of the card above (no name on trade) and the color combo of the card below is very nice (trade was made by Heather Van Duker).

So there you have the 5 cards we did at the SWLC in August, next months class is October 8, 9 & 10. It will be the Annual Christmas Card Class which is always fills fast. Click on the calendar to the left to RSVP.

My contribution to the Fabulous Friday post is this Build-a-Bear Tissue box. Wouldn't this little box be way too cute in a Nursery??

Here are the directions:

To form the base tray of the tissue box cover cut a 6 1/2" square of Certainly Celery card stock. Score 1" on all 4 sides and then cut into each corner to make flap.

Fold up on each side and use sticky strip to form base tray. Cut 2 pieces of Certainly Celery card stock 11x5" Decorate each piece of card stock before scoring, I used Certainly Celery ink and a jumbo wheel Cornelli Lace. Score each piece at 5" and 10" link these 2 together using sticky strip. Run sticky strip around the outside edge of the base tray.
